Jai McDowall (born 24 July 1986) is an established Scottish singer who won the fifth series of Britain's Got Talent in June 2011. Before this, he was an aspiring performer who worked as a home carer and honed his skills through karaoke and amateur acting. He performed at the 2011 Royal Variety Performance and was signed to Syco Music, a subdivision of record label giant, Sony Music. Before Britain's Got Talent, he appeared as a contestant on The X Factor and The American Idol Experience. After winning Britain's Got Talent, Jai performed on the Britain's Got Talent Tour, starting in Newcastle and moving through Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow before heading south through England and appearing in the major venues in most major cities. He performed at the 2011 'Glasgow Show' at Glasgow Green with an audience of 20,000 people. His debut album 'Believe' was released on 9 December 2011 and 2012 was spent writing, recording and gigging with Jai performed his first headline show in September 2012 at Glasgow's ABC venue to a sold out audience in addition to performing at the Queen's Jubilee Concert in George Square. In addition to this, he was selected for the Poppy Scotland single, a cover of 'Unforgettable' by Nat King Cole. The single reached number 1 on the iTunes easy listening chart for the whole of the UK. A massive fan of West-end musicals since his formative years, Jai is now moving to London for a brief period to embark on further musical theater training following the successful completion of an acting course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Despite this, Jai maintains a hectic live schedule, with recent support slots for Ronan Keating and Brian McFadden and appearances at both corporate and public live events. Following successful appearances at previous events, Jai McDowall was also personally invited by the Scottish Parliament to perform at their groundbreaking 'Festival of Politics' event at Holyrood in August 2013.

Jai to perform at Scottish Parliament's 'Festival of Politics' 2013For the first time, the Festival will feature the Festival Café where the Parliament will be transformed into a relaxed, informal space.
