The Minibee

Background: About Us The Minibee company is a children's book publishing start-up based out of Little Rock, AR. The company is being founded by the millennial husband and wife team of Amy and Hamlin Au (pronounced "O"). With the prospect of parenting looming right around the corner they scoured the market for a nursery curricula they thought would be parent-child focused and counter the alarming trend of commercialized nursery music products Author and Co-Founder of The Minibee Prior to writing “The Five Minibees” Amy was the director of music for the Mandell School (featured in the documentary “Nursery University”) on the upper west side in New York City. At Mandell Amy experimented with the concepts she would later develop into the minibee series. A lifetime musician with a heart for education Amy was born in Lafayette, Indiana spending her childhood in the Midwest and Pennsylvania. She was a student of the Peabody Institute Music Preparatory program of the Johns Hopkins University during her teen years. She went on to receive her B.A. at the Eastman School of Music for piano performance and true to her calling; packed her bags and headed for NYC where she received her graduate degree in music education at Columbia University. Amy has performed for numerous musicals such as “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and “Chicago.” As a practitioner she was also the music director for the St. Marks Episcopal Day School in Little Rock, AR. Her summers are usually spent coaching chamber music groups back in the rolling hills of her home town of Glenrock, PA.
