Toor dal तूर डाळ - Tūr ḍāḷ in Marathi; તુવે૨ દાળ in Gujarati; म..रहर दाल Arhar dāl or तुवर दाल Tuvar dāl in Uttar Pradesh,ହରଡ ଡାଲି Harada Daali in Orissa, in Bengal Adahar (Bengali:ম..ড়হর ডাল); ತೊಭ-ರಿ ಬೇಳೆ Togari bele in Kannada; కంది పప్పు Kandi pappu in Telugu; തുവര (തുമര) പരിപ്പ് Tuvara or Tumara parippu in Malayalam; and துவரம் பருப்பு Tuvaram paruppu in Tamil - i.e. yellow Pigeon peas; available either plain or oily. It is the main ingredient for the famous South Indian recipe called Sambar (pronounced as Saambaar). At home... it gave at least 2-3 kgs...although not properly taken care of.....
