This is a talk in Konkani on following article and also on Mukti Sudhakaram by Samy Bhoomandaji and Katopanishad by Udit Chaitanyaji and other T V serial-\n\nAppearance is deceptive\nThere was a king called Jaanasruti, who was well known for his generosity.\n \n\n\nBut with it came pride • in his ability and willingness to give to others. One day, he overheard a conversation of two birds. One said Jaanasruti\'s generosity was of no use as he did not have Brahma gnana. He was inferior to Raikva, who had Brahma gnana.\n\nA curious Jaanasruti sent his men to locate Raikva. When Raikva was finally located, Jaanasruti found him unadorned and very ordinary. The king brought many gifts for Raikva, but he refused to take any.\n\nJaanasruti had power and wealth, but Raikva, who had none of them, imparted to the king the knowledge he sought. Jaanasruti possessed many ornaments, but it was Raikva who had the ornament called gnana, said Akkarakkani Srinidhi.\n\nStory of a sage\n\nIn the Mahabharata, there is a story of how a sage attained enlightenment.\n\nHe sat under a tree doing penance and droppings of a bird fell on him. He flew into a rage and burnt the bird. He then walked to a hut and asked for a glass of water.\n\nThe lady of the house said he would have to wait as she was serving her husband food. He asked her how she could dare to make a sage wait at her doorstep. She replied that she knew all about his temper and how he had burned a bird. But she was not going to be cowed down by his anger or his powers.\n\nThe sage was amazed at her words. How could she have known of what he had done? She was not present when he burnt the bird. The lady replied that if he wanted true gnana, he should find Dharmavyadha.\n\nThe sage then set out, seeking Dharmavyadha who, he presumed, must be a very learned man. But he discovered that Dharmavyadha was a butcher.\n\nThe sage wondered how a man who killed animals for a living could impart gnana to him. But Dharmavyadha explained to him that he was earning for his family and asked how any work could be considered inferior. God resides in all, regardless of whether one is rich or poor. The sage returned home, having learnt this lesson.-----------The Hindu dated 1-6-12
