JoNNi Dōl

Background: Broadcast Bio: John “Jonni Dōl” Dolmo pronounced (jŏn'Ģ - dole)/ Johnny Dole, born John D. Grant Avila in Boston, MA on March 10, 1985 first became inspired to begin rapping at the tender age of 8 via his regular summer visits to Uncle Pablo “Bungo” Dolmo’s crib in Brooklyn, NY. Bungo, a member of UNS, a Garifuna Spanglish/Reggaeton group started in 1991 was Young Dols first true introduction to hip-hop. As a dark completed Latino from Honduras with Garifuna ancestry it was these visits that inspired hits like Afro Latino and the spanglish/hip-hop mash up styles evident throughout much of Jonni Dols music. Jonni Dōl’s life has been nomadic since the beginning; life in Honduras, Central America, to East NY Brooklyn, from the North Shore to South Shore of Massachusetts and regular visits with Family and Friends in Chicago; it’s all of this movement that added to the creative versatility that encompasses the Jonni Dol style. Demolishing Competition in Brockton High bathrooms, MBTA Trolleys or New York City stoops during freestyle battles became a regular method of introduction for young Jonni Dol. As an attempt to save her son from the Gang violence raging throughout the city streets that had sadly claimed the lives of her youngest brother and many of her sons friends, Yolani Dolmo seeing her sons talent did all the foot work, paid for, and got him in the booth too record his first demo at 18 years old. Jonni Dōl has since performed shows/Tracks with Tony Touch, Cuban Link, Bang’em Smurf, Domination and several others. He has had hits like “Afro-Latino” getting international play, performed in various night clubs throughout upstate NY & NYC, Chicago, as well as New England, and has had his music featured on several mix tapes. With all that said, Jonni Dol offers you his life experiences, his growth from boy to man and the knowledge to know that his path as a musician is destined for greatness via his lyricism, natural rhythmic flow and independent swagger.

Goals: The Golden Gates ENT currently consists of, 5 artists, 3 music engineers, 1 Chicago based DJ, 2 web designers and an “all hands on deck” 11 member team approach in regards to promotion. “The Gates” currently collaborate with: Track One Productions @ http://www.track1pro.webs.com/ in regards to beats, ex VIBE/Honey Magazine celebrity photographer Steven Duarte @ http://www.stevenduarte.com in regards to professional photos, Steve Simon of Baby Boy Records, the live band the “Jimmy Johnson Files ” and several local New England clubs, in an effort to bring to the masses the best in home grown, grass roots entertainment. The overall goal is the attainment of a Major Label recording and distribution contract.
