Sammy "DJ Sammy" Courtney has been performing as a professional for over 10 years and currently holds residencies at Spiral Video Dance Bar and the Shark Club. He is a mixmaster, able to blend all styles of popular and underground music. His ability to read a crowd and adjust his mix to suit the mood has made him a popular choice of bar owners and fellow DJs alike. DJ Sammy has had residencies at all of Lansing Michigan's nightclub and dance spots including Spiral, Harem, The Firm, Tavern On the Square, Mac's and 621. He began learning his craft in 1994 inspired by Detroit and its amazingly talented DJs and producers. Originally a Detroit techno purist, as he progressed in his craft so did his appetite for new and exciting styles of dance music. For many years DJ Sammy was known for his deep house . After experiencing a life changing set by Kenny Dixon JR., AKA Moody Man he began to study the disco, RnB and funk classics that were the inspiration for some of the industries most popular dance and hip hop tracks. After a number of years spinning everything from Deep house and Disco to 80's and Top 40, DJ Sammy decided it was time to make his own mark and start down the production path. He is currently in the studio working on finishing his first EP. Sammy studied Audio Production and Live Mixing at LCC and also spent a number of years working as the sound tech at various night clubs.
