Promote Your Page Too Nick Stecz is an established touring/session drummer living in Vancouver, BC. Whether recording an album on remote Whidbey Island, performing to a sold out crowd at the Drake Hotel during Canadian Music Week, or playing live broadcasts for CBC radio—Nick can be heard all over Canadian airwaves. His success comes from a steadfast devotion to balancing session work and live musical performance. With five years of thrash/metal band I Hate Sally under his belt, Nick moved westward to Vancouver to contribute his drumming to an assortment of local and touring projects including: Leeroy Stagger, Matthew Robinson, Stef Lang, O'Mally, ClockMakers, Joel Battle, Karly Warkentin, Lisa O'Neill, and the Chris Buck Band; taking to the road with acts like CBC darling Hannah Georgas, Dave Vertesi (of Hey Ocean! & ToplessGayLoveTeknoParty) and Colleen Brown. In the studio Nick has worked with west coast powerhouse veterans including: Steven Drake (the Odds), Jesse Gander (The Hive), Ryan Hauschild and Winston Productions, Shawn Cole, Dean Maher and frequented sessions at Mushroom Studios, Red Light Sound, and Fadermaster. Offering a smorgasbord of styles—whether country-tinged beats, folk rock, jazz or pop—Nick has both the control and creative freedom to stylistically chameleon behind the kit. His passion for fine-tuning a studio session and rolling out a dynamic performance stands out in Canada's sea of talented musicians. Transforming his percussive abilities to compliment any given project, Nick has every musician’s back. He also enjoys exploring his penchant for song-writing with confident, sure-fire skills. When he is not on stage, Nick is teaching the Rock Band generation of drummers the importance of sight reading, rudiments and technique. Sure he can keep time, but he would rather show you just how fantastic well-manned drums can sound.
