‘My mother suffered from hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia and my father studied shorthand. It was love at first type.’ As a child Jessica English was set at an early age to become an enigmatic performer: Born on the Western side of a derelict gramophone factory, her crying rickeshayed all around the unit until it broke a window. A foreboding sign of things to come. Known for her signature banshee vocals she mixes a drink of badmouthing piano chords with contorted melodies to make any drunkard declare himself freshly sober. At 18, during a short stint in LA she found herself enamored by the likes of Fiona Apple and Tom Waits. Living here, surrounded by the hatter revival of the late 21st Century, she would often lend a hand, and when feeling the effects of the fumes, sit at a piano to write music. Mix this with emersion in the Alice in Wonderland culture, and a strange new type of music was spawned. English was later removed from the country due to mad activities, so settled in England where she held a producer/engineer job at a developing studio, which gave her a chance to record her own music in studio downtime. Recordings led to semi-finalist positions in the UK songwriting contest and Make it Break it awards. Her debut albums are about to be mass-bombed by a squadron of stalks. If they manage to find their way into stores, be sure get your claws on a copy!
