A dynamic and soulful guitarist and singer, Garrett “Big G” Jacobson is Oklahoma's favorite working blues artist. Rooted firmly in the blues, but heavily influenced by soul and jazz, Jacobson's unique sound is best described as soul-blues with a dose of funk. Originally a pianist, Garrett began playing guitar at age ten. By age twelve, his playing had caught the attention of local blues legend and Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame inductee D.C. Minner, with whom Garrett played for the following three years. It was during his tenure with Minner that Garrett became known as Big G. In 1998, Garrett formed his own band and recorded his first record, Rhythm Attack. To date, he has released a total of four CD's which have received critical praise in such publications as Living Blues, Blues Revue and Southwest Blues. In addition to having performed extensively at countless venues throughout Oklahoma and surrounding areas, Garrett has shared the stage with such blues greats as Smokey Wilson and Joe Louis Walker. His most recent CD release, In Person, captures the dynamic energy of his live show: Garrett and his tight working band serve up an offering of soul-blues with the raw energy and spontaneity that only a live recording can capture. Garrett “Big G” Jacobson always delivers a soul-satisfying show that is guaranteed to please.
