A-Roy is a songwriter, rapper and student of hip-hop culture and music. In the fall of 2010, A-Roy decided to utilize his passion and talent to build on his image as a hip-hop artist. He has now become an important part of the budding Fort Worth hip-hop scene, and plans to continue to help it grow in the spirit of true, authentic hip-hop. What can you expect from A-Roy’s music? He’s old school, and influenced by the sounds of R&B/soul and jazz from the 60s and 70s. He also takes pride in his lyricism, and strives to write songs that have layers and depth, reflecting on everyday struggles and accomplishments. Some of his biggest hip-hop influences are 2Pac, Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, Little Brother, Lecrae, Nas, Scarface and Z-Ro. A-Roy has been paying dues on the local show circuit, with performances at spots like the Cellar & the Grotto in Fort Worth and the Arnetic in Dallas. His first project, the Rough Draft EP, was released on March 15, 2011, and he has begun working on a summer mixtape as well as his official debut album set for release in the fall of 2011.
