2010 Photography Contest

This contest is open to males, females, and groups of all ages from anywhere in the world, who are registered users of Lafango.com. If you are not currently registered, you must set up an account with Lafango in order to participate. Lafango is a 100% free site and there is absolutely no cost to participate in this or any other contest on our site. Additional restrictions may apply.

To enter, contestants must submit a minimum of one (1) entry that conforms to the unique rules of this contest. Entries that violate any rule may be removed and disqualified without notice. Should this occur, it is the responsibility of the contestant to submit a new entry before the expiration of the submission period. If the contestant fails to submit a new entry, he or she will no longer be eligible.

All entries must consist of media that is in a file type supported by the Lafango uploader. All entries must be received through Lafango during the valid submission period(s), which may be extended if an insufficient number of entries are received. All entries must be the creation and/or property of the submitting contestant. Entries must not contain any nudity, profanity, or extreme depictions of violence, or be obscene, lewd, discriminatory, or threatening in any way.

Contestants may be required to supply background information and a Lafango user icon in which he or she is depicted. Visual entries (videos and images), depending on the nature of the contest, may be required to depict this same individual. Entries may be required to contain non-generic, descriptive titles and a textual description.

Lafango assumes no responsibility for possible fraud committed by any contestant. While every effort is made to ensure that all submitted entries are actually created by their respective contestants, Lafango cannot be held liable for actions on the part of the users. Lafango reserves the right to remove or disqualify any entry at any time at its discretion.

During the contest's voting period, users of Lafango may be able to vote on entries to help select the winner(s). If the contest is not capable of running as planned or where the sole judgement of Lafango concludes that the security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the contest is corrupted, Lafango reserves the right to disqualify or modify the standings of any entries that violate the rules at its own discretion. Regardless of performance, all contestants are eligible for no more than one (1) prize per contest. Contestants may not receive a prize from more than one (1) contest within a 60-day period.

Lafango reserves the right to make the final decision as to which contestant(s), if any, will receive a prize. The chosen recipient(s) will be able to claim the prize(s) by clicking the "Claim Prize" button on the contest page, filling out the form, responding to any inquiries from Lafango administrators, and submitting any required proof of identity. If these actions are not completed within a period of 21 days, or if the contestant is discovered to have violated any of the contest's rules, the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to another contestant. Lafango is not responsible or liable for any prizes that are delayed, damaged, lost, or stolen, nor are there any guarantees or warranties regarding the quality or value of these prizes. Lafango reserves the right to change the prize at any time or to offer an alternative of similar value. Prizes are non-transferable. All federal, state, and local tax liabilities are the sole responsibility of the recipient(s). International recipients are responsible for their own local tariffs and customs duties. Lafango is not liable for the value added tax (VAT), however it will insure the package and pay for the shipping. Recipients will be provided with tracking information. By entering this contest, all contestants must affirm to have read and agree to abide by the terms and conditions of Lafango, the official contest rules, and the decisions of the judges and contest administrators. Lafango reserves the right to modify these rules and regulations at any time, at its discretion, and without notice. Lafango also reserves the right to disqualify any contestant acting in violation of the official rules or found tampering with the entry process, the operation of the contest, or the website. By entering this contest, all contestants hereby consent (except where prohibited) to the use by Lafango of the contestant's name, age, photograph, voice, likeness, and/or image, hometown address, and entry without any further compensation. If the contest has a sponsor, contestant information may be shared with the sponsor. Employees (and their immediate families or those living in the same household) of the sponsor, and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, parent and related companies, suppliers, printers and advertising, promotional and judging agencies are not eligible to enter or win.

Limitations of Liability: Lafango and each of its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent corporations, and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, and agents, are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate entry information, theft, tampering, destruction, or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries; printing or other errors; and any entries or mail which are late, lost, delayed, incomplete, misdirected, stolen, mutilated, illegible, or any combination thereof. Lafango reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the contest in the event that it becomes necessary due to circumstances beyond its control.

Release of Liability: By participating, contestants agree to release, discharge, indemnify, and hold harmless Lafango and each of its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent corporations, and their officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents from and against any claims made by the contestants or any other third parties related in any way to the operation of this contest, including without limitation, claims of copyright infringement, as well as any other claims, damages or liability due to any injuries, damages or losses (whether alleged, threatened, or actual) to any person or property of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize or participation in any contest-related activity or participation in this contest.

The user retains the rights to all of his or her media, and by submitting, grants permission to Lafango to display or use in any promotional material.

All entries must be photographs, and not a visual/graphic art manipulation. Photographs must not contain digitally-added text. Any text found within the photograph must be contained organically within the photographed objects/subjects.

This contest has 3 rounds. Participation in each round requires the contestant to have a valid entry in the preceding round. At the conclusion of all but the final round, a number of top contestants will be permitted to proceed to the next round. If there is no submission period for the next round, the top entries will move on automatically (with no additional action required by the contestant). If there is a submission period, finalists must submit new entries in order to remain in the contest. All non-finalists may submit reserve entries which will only be used in case of insufficient participation by the top contestants. Failure to submit a new entry within the designated time periods may result in the contestant's removal from the contest.

Round 1: The submission period is from Wednesday, January 20th, 2010 (12:00am UTC) through Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 (11:59pm UTC). Contestants are to submit no more than one (1) image file. Voting will take place from Friday, April 23rd, 2010 (1:00am UTC) through Thursday, May 13th, 2010 (11:59pm UTC). Results are based on the total score in a 1-5 rating system. This round has a prize pool currently valued at $0. This value may increase as more contestants enter the round. After the round has concluded, the prize pool will be awarded to the top contestant(s).

Round 2: The submission period is from Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 (12:00pm UTC) through Friday, June 18th, 2010 (12:00pm UTC). Submission is open to the top 100 contestants from Round 1. Contestants are to submit no more than one (1) image file. All entries must be a photograph of architecture. Voting will take place from Sunday, June 20th, 2010 (12:00pm UTC) through Wednesday, June 30th, 2010 (11:59am UTC). Results are based on the average score in a 1-5 rating system. This round has a prize pool currently valued at $0. This value may increase as more contestants enter the round. After the round has concluded, the prize pool will be awarded to the top contestant(s).

Round 3: The submission period is from Friday, July 2nd, 2010 (12:00pm UTC) through Sunday, August 1st, 2010 (12:00pm UTC). Submission is open to the top 10 contestants from Round 2. Contestants are to submit no more than one (1) image file. All entries must be a photograph of a music theme. Voting will take place from Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010 (12:00pm UTC) through Tuesday, August 17th, 2010 (11:59pm UTC). Results are based on the total number of votes received. This round has a prize pool currently valued at $0. This value may increase as more contestants enter the round. After the round has concluded, the following prizes will be awarded: One (1) 1st Place Winner will receive $1,000 USD.
