Background: Coming from a musical family Arindam was introduced to Vocal Music at an early age of nine by his Uncle late Arabinda Sarma. Early stage of the music started with the light songs along with some basic classical training. Few years later he was under the talim of late Acharya Usharanjan Mukherjee, a disciple of late Ustad Amir Khan and late Sri Tarapada Chakraborty, for long eight years. Now Arindam has been receiving training under the tutelage of music maestro and trainer Pandit Kamal Bandhopadhyay, who was a close associate and beloved disciple of the late Ustad Amir Khan of Indore. Apart from the classical music Arindam has got the formal training of light songs from Sri Biman Mukherjee, Sri Jaileswar Mukhopadhaya and Sri Subhendu Maity. Arindam's intense dedication and love for his art has won him quite a few laurels. Namely, THE DOVER LANE TALENT SEARCH AWARD in Thumri in 1989-90. He got the challenge trophy by securing highest score in different wings of vocal music in the WEST BENGAL MUSIC COMPETITION, in 1979-80 and many more prizes in different wings of music. Arindam has performed so many stage shows of light songs, Ghazals and khyal. Arindam Sarma is one of today's very few male artists representing the Indore gharana of Hindustani Classical Vocal Music. Arindam possesses a very tuneful voice that fluently moves in three octaves. He has developed his own techniques in voice modulation over experimentation in the last 15 years; he has a keen sense of rhythm and a tremendous command over laya and taal. He also performs almost all the subjects in light music like Modern song, Folk song etc with equal command. Arindam has also excelled in academics by obtaining an Post Graduation in Systems Management from NIIT, Kolkata and established himself as a Computer software specialist. However he has infused all his academic education for fulfilling his mission of preaching Indian Classical Music.
