Background: Once in a great while someone special comes along. Someone with a unique musical talent, a unique voice or a unique stage presence. But rarely do you find someone who has all three. Well, my friends, this is one of those rare occasions! Imagine if you will a male vocalist who can sing low base just as easily as high tenor! A singer who can make lovers want to cuddle with his ballads and make dancers want to hit the floor with his up-beat tunes! An experienced vocalist who can easily perform everything from Blues to Big Band, Jazz to Gospel, and Classic Rock to Country! Well here he is! It is my extreme pleasure to introduce you to the phenomenal Mr. Gene Newman! Gene started singing at the age of 5 in the small Oklahoma church that his dad pastored. By the age of 12 he was a featured soloist in the adult Chancel Choir. His choral experience continued through High School where he sang both tenor and bass in the Chorus, a madrigal group, a double-mixed quartet, a mixed quartet, a men§s quartet, and as a soloist, earning him the National School Choral Award in 1980. That summer he was selected to be a part of the First Annual Methodist Festival Choir European Tour! He continued singing in church choirs across the country as well as in Men§s Glee Clubs and A Capella choruses. Most recently he sang tenor in St. Joseph, Missouri§s ¢Voices of America¢ men§s chorus and in the Barbershop Quartet ¢Chordtime¢. Gene has also received rave reviews for his performances in numerous community theater presentations, most recently as the Scarecrow in St. Joseph, Missouri§s Robidoux Resident Theater§s production of ¢The Wizard of Oz¢!
