Periodical Cicada-Brood XIX 13 Year

The 13-year cicada (an individual of one of the 17-year cicada species that is pictured). There are seven species of periodical cicadas, which are all placed into the genus Magicicada, and they all have very long lives -- living underground as larvae and then synchronously emerging in massive numbers (more than 370/m²) and transforming into adults either every 13 or 17 years. Easily distinguished from the more than 3000 species non-periodical \\\"annual\\\" cicadas, all of which emerge asynchronously.
